Address or coordinates?
An address or place name is searched in Google Maps when the code is scanned, so it finds the business or building even if its exact pin moves. Coordinates point to one exact spot: best for a side entrance, a car park, a trailhead or a place without an address. To copy coordinates, right-click the spot in Google Maps on a computer, or press and hold it on a phone.

Questions
Does it work on iPhone without Google Maps?
Yes. It opens Google Maps in the browser, which can hand off directions to Apple Maps.
Does it share the scanner's location?
No. The code only contains the place you entered. Maps may ask the person for their location to give directions, as it always does.
Is the address I enter stored?
No. The code is made by your browser, and nothing you type is sent to us or saved.
