QR code scanner
See what a QR code really contains before you act on it: the actual web address, the WiFi password, the payment details. Nothing opens until you choose.
Codes are read on your device. The camera picture and your images are never uploaded or saved.

Why check a code first?
A QR code is just text, and you can't read it by looking. Scammers stick their own codes over the real ones on parking meters, restaurant tables and posters, sending people to fake payment or login pages. This is sometimes called "quishing". This scanner shows you the real destination, with the website's address picked out, so you can spot a link to somewhere you didn't expect.
What it can read
- Website links: shows the real site name before you open it.
- WiFi codes: shows the network name and password, so you can type it on a laptop too.
- Contact cards, calendar events, emails, text messages and phone numbers.
- Payment codes: SEPA bank transfers, UPI, Bitcoin and Ethereum, with the account and amount.
Questions
Is the camera picture sent anywhere?
No. The code is read by this page on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and the camera turns off as soon as a code is found.
Why does it ask for camera permission?
Browsers ask before any page uses the camera. You can say no and open a photo or screenshot of the code instead.
Does it read barcodes?
This scanner reads QR codes. For product barcodes, use your phone's camera app or a shopping app.
